The FAFSA form will bring the Pell Grant (if you meet the income requirements), work study program, need based scholarships from the college's endowment fund, and student loans. It goes by a family size and percentage formula with your income and savings counting higher than your parents' income and savings. This needs to be completed either in January, early February or well before your school's financial aid deadline to get the most help. However, when selecting the college after the decisions, I recommend going with who will offer you the best financial aid package. I will include some other free resources to locate money to attend college.

First, I recommend going to your school's guidance office. They have a list of local scholarships and state grants. This is your best chance to locate college scholarships with the best chances of receiving one.

Second, the local public library has a book listing scholarships with some not even listed on the web.

Finally, I recommend joining a couple more free membership scholarship search engines. It has a customized search based on the information you enter into it. There is a scholarship for almost anything out there. Scholarship deadlines happen throughout the year. I recommend checking back on a regular basis for the new scholarships.

Good luck!

Besides applying for scholarships, as soon after Jan 1st as possible, you need to go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and apply for federal financial aid using your and your parents income tax returns. This is an application for grants, loans (optional) and work study. I'm attaching a publication explaining everything you are applying for and how they calculate if you qualify.
Good Luck.

Have you filled out a fafsa form. The site to find the form is www.fafsa.gov. This form will help you with basic grants that you might qualify.

There are lots of websites for scholarships, far too many to list. The best thing to do is to do a search for scholarships that are offered in a field of study that you are interested or that are offered to people with unique characteristics that you might possess (e.g. first time in college, girls interested in science, minority, etc.)

Good luck.

schools have this thing called "scholarship portfolios" in the middle of February.. you have to make one coz sponsors will be visitinig your school to select thier scholar recipients.

also, try applying for FAFFSA. Its gonna help you get a grant, but only if your family isn't rich.. if your family is like kinda rich-ish but not poor-ish, you are less likely to get a grant.. but like, you could get a loan!

But hey, if you really want to go to college.. and there's no other way, try student loans.. ... it may be expensive, and you'll get billed later on, but with a NEW job after college, you'll be able to make more cash, and pay for it!
