The best place to start is filling out the FAFSA form if you have not completed it already. As a single mother, you qualify on your income and savings along with your family size (meaning your child or children). Unfortunately, it is hard to tell how much you will receive until the form is completed and the SAR report is sent along with the school's financial aid package is sent to you. Also, if you are not working or low income, the local workforce office should be able to help with child care assistance along with the WIC program if the child is under five years old. I will include some free resources to help you find money for college. Good luck!

I too am a single mom that decided to go to school. You will get more assistance than many other students because you have a dependant. But keep in mind they will base your finncial award on last year's tax return. SO if you made any money last year, it will reduce your award amount (you cant get around this). You can look for singlr mother scholarships, your avatar also appears to be african american. If you are african american, you can also look for scholarships for single black mothers also. Hope this helps and good luck!!!

BTW- depending on where you live, you may also recieve free childcare and/or monetary assistance because youre in school full time.

I know that being a single mother, there are alot of things available to you, to pay for your schooling. Shop around on line, but to my knowledge it should be free. Good luck
