I am a 26 yro single white female. I will be attending Laney College in the spring. I have looking into financial aid at the college (EOPS) and filed out the FAFSA. I have worked for the last year, full time and I am finding out that working is really "working" against me!! I keep hearing I make "too much" money. I am going back full time and working on my lower division classes so I can transfer in a year. I am plannin on working part-time. If anyone out there can point me in the right direction for looking for grants/scholarships, I would really appreciate it!! Thank you

Check out Federal Student Aid Web Site or FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

I suggest you explore all federal funding and grant options at the Federal Student Aid website http://federalstudentaid.ed.gov/

You may also want to read the Handbook of the Pell Grant -- this is an 86 page document that contains everything about the grant
http://ifap.ed.gov/sfahandbooks/attachments/0203Vo3MasterFile.pdf

Or you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/gtepfpg.pdf at 1-800-433-3243 and ask them if there are any programs for women of your age

Aside from FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov and Pell Grant http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/index.html , you may want to explore private foundation grants

Also check out Fastweb http://www.fastweb.com

For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center's Foundation Grants for Individuals Online http://gtionline.fdncenter.org . It's a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) and their opening blurb says that the database is ideal for "students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices." You may be able to find grants from private foundations.

No, the GI invoice and instructions help isn't meant for the companion. There are defense force companion scholarships accessible. additionally look into scholarships presented by utilising the faculty you have an interest in attending. And to contradict the different posters fact till you attempt to defraud the federal help equipment, maximum defense force spouses are no longer eligible for the pell grant because of the fact on the FAFSA you're required to comprise your BAH (or base housing equivalent, an volume that the backside guidance place of work can provide you), BAS, and the different unreported income given by utilising the defense force.

There are two options you can do. The first is to join several free scholarship search websites. The other option is to work for the college itself in which you will get benefits in time along with tuition assistance. I will include some links below which should help. Good luck!
