Logically a merit scholarship (as opposed to a Merit Scholarship which is a particular one) would be given based on high school grades and college admission test results. A transfer scholarship would be based on work done at another college to encourage you to transfer, often for a team, I suppose.

well i know of a merit scholarship and it's given to like the top 5 kids from the state or maybe school with the best PSAT score. but i don't know it that's the same merit scholarship you're talking about. and then a transfer scholarship is, i'm pretty sure, for transfer students and their work done at a previous college
