I've been accepted to nursing school, the hospital I want to work for will repay my school loans, but I can't get a loan because it seems to be all based on my credit score, which isn't great. I'm not a risk at all, but how do I find someone to help me???? I need the loan so I can support myself and the kids as I go to school--my child support is pretty small. Help!

Can coupon books be sent to other countries (for your family) so, you can get the money for a public school?? I have a cousin twice removed that has a few family members here in Canada and wants to send it to the U.S. Russia, India and the Philippines. Amethsyt's teacher is very strict and might tell her that she is not reading the envelope very good and that it says ALL FRIENDS and family.

I am graduating HS this year, and looking at private colleges (about 40K). My parents are divorced and I live with mom. She makes 12K or less, but my dad makes about 100K. He isn't planning on helping with college. So, is there any way we can MAKE him? What kind of aid from the govt./state should I get? (they only look at my mom, right?) From the school? (nothing because of my dad, right?).

Additional details: my mom doesn't have alimony, and dad doesn't pay his full child support (agreed upon with mom). My dad has remained a big part of my life, I see him all the time, and he pays for braces, car, ect. I am also willing to work during college and such, but would have to dorm there, as it is too far away from home not to.

I live in MA if that matters, and any help would be great!

Hey, I'm trying to get a degree and I don't really have the money to pay a lot. I have tried financial aid but it never works out for me. Anyone know what is the most inexpensive school in New York City for programs such and medical billing/coding, medical tech, or maybe even as a pharmacy technician? Thanks!

So here's my scenario:
1) Graduated from undergrad in May 2007.
2) Called Sallie Mae, they said my status is that I am enrolled in school till Dec. 2008 and won't begin repayment till July 2009. Don't understand how that could be...??
3) I plan on attending grad school in Fall of 2008.

Q1: Why does Sallie Mae think I am still enrolled in school till Dec. 2008? Is that a good thing (customer service rep says yes, b/c i won't be accruing interest and no need to defer payments...is that true)?

Q2: Considering my scenario above, how will it affect my FAFSA application when I apply for grad school next year?

Please only answer if you have experience with Texas Welfare (food stamps, medicaid, TANF).

I am applying for assistance. I live in a rental house with my 3 children that my husband is paying for (he rents it from his father), he also pays for the utilites, he just can't pay for the groceries or insurance for the kids. Until we actually get divorced, this situation works out better for me because I don't have to pay for the bills right now and I can stay home with the children.

A few months ago when I applied for food stamps I was denied, I guess because I didn't send back the letter that they wanted the neighbors to sign stating who lived at my address. My neighbors don't know what's going on in my house, and so I can't really have anyone sign it. What do I do this time?

P.S. I would work but it costs more for childcare for 3 children then I would make in a week. Yes, I was married when I had them and it was easier with 2 incomes.

My friends son and his ex wife has asked him to co sign for a college loan which is not re payable until the year 2012.
I do not understand college loans and he has asked me what I think of it. He believes he may be getting himself into some kind of a financial trap.
I did not know a college loan required a co signer. Does it?
He already payed for his 1st years tuition and his dorm fees and all that stuff. I do not want to give him mis information, but clearly he is concerned. Who do we ask about this for sound financial advice? Do you know anything about college loans for an 18 yr old child? Do you think he is being ripped off? Do the parents co sign a college loan for $6K not repayable for at least 5 yrs?

I committed a nonviolent felony (stole a car) when i was 18 in Atlanta. I am now 24 years old and realize that I need an education to get any farther in life than I am. I have just recently gotten my GED and plan on going into graphic design or architecture if I am able. My question is : Will this hold me back from a career? Because of how long ago the crime was (2002), my present and past employers haven't held it against me but they weren't career type jobs unless you like to dig in dirt or do construction. I want to make something out of myself and plan on working my butt off to get there. I just need to know if it is doable. Thanks in advance!!!
