I am applying for scholarships and they want me to demonstrate my financial need.

Usually, you tell them the EFC from your FAFSA.

If that is not available, you submit a copy of your parents 1040 Tax form from last year.

Hi Someone,
There should be a line in the questionnaire that asks about your financial resources. The committee that decides who will receive the scholarship has guidelines for how much income a student, or his or her parents, may have for this scholarship.

Usually you write how much your parents make, if you have other siblings going to college, and how much you expect to need for college. Usually you can find out how much the average freshman spends at whatever college you're going to
