This is the question: What are the unique qualities of Northwestern University, and of the specific undergraduate school to which you are applying, that make you want to attend Northwestern? In what ways do you hope to take advantage of the qualities you have identified?
Here is my response:
One of my goals in life is to apply, and be accepted into a well-established college or university. When I began my college search I wasn't really certain what I was looking for. It didn’t take long for me to realize that this was a huge decision in my life, to go to college. I was essentially selecting my home for the subsequent four years, and perhaps even more, because I want to go to medical school. Where I go could have an impact on numerous decisions of my life such as, but not limited to, the amount of job offers I would receive after I graduate, where I want to apply my medical profession. When I considered applying to Northwestern University, I felt that having that big city experience I would acquire from attending would help me expand my horizons, and accurately prepare me for anything. I valued the diversity the school offered as a way to discover not only about other cultures, but to appreciate how diverse the world is economically, racially, and religiously. Each of these diversities presents me the chance to learn from the experiences of others, a trait that unquestionably would help any career.

I don't mean to make fun or mock a serious thing like suicide, but it's a legitimate question. Our educational system is flawed in that you are forced to take classes that you are not mentally configured to do well in - for example, I really really struggle with math. I do very well in real world applications with numbers, for example accounting and econ, those make sense. Math problems where it's just how to take gibberish numbers and get some other gibberish kill me. I'm a very visual person, I don't remember specifics, I remember concepts, so a formula will cause me problems but I can explain economic theories with graphs all day long.

My question is this - how many people, forced to take more math than a basic business degree should have to take (calculus), have considered suicide solely because of that class? Admins who require useless math for a non-math related degree should be charged with murder. I have other problems but this is the first time I've thought like this.

My son has just started an apprenticeship and earns £100 pounds a week for doing 35+ (he is 16 years old and just left school) I feel it unfair that at 16 he has to pay for his own prescriptions, his own trainting costs ( He is with a training agency called Smart ) I also take money from him for his keep (just £20 a week) as we have lost his Family allowance and if he stayed on at school or college he would have got EMA! A lot of his friends are better of than him who are still at school as they have Family allowance and some get EMA and have part time jobs, is it me or is this just unfair I know it was his choice to do the apprenticeship but I feel the govement are not backing things like this up Remember he is only 16 and having to pay for his prescricptions!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in a recent commercial for doritos collisions, Missy Elliot makes the following statement, which clearly mixes a plural article (it) with a singular verb (need)(twice): "I know what it need. It need some country." <--Are you telling me that she is getting paid millions of dollars to do a commercial when she can't even speak proper english when there are people out here who can't even get a job because no one wants to hire them, even despite speaking proper english and having gone to college?

I'm currently a journalism major at a university, however, my mind is starting to change on the idea of being a journalist. I've always loved small children and have been babysitting/working with them since I was about 13.
I'm starting to think that becoming a pre-school teacher or working in a daycare would be great for me.
I've found the national site for pre-school, but I was interested in hearing more from an actual person who works in a pre-school and/or daycare.
What degree did you need/get (if any)?
What qualifications did you need?
What did you do to get to the job?
Any required license?
---
I'm getting married within the next year, my fiance is military, so I'll probably be working on post or in the nearby neighborhoods. Which is another reason why pre-school/daycare are best for me.

Anything you know/experiences you can share will be great :)

For homework, I have to write an historical fiction story about Chicago between 1830-1940. I wanted to write a story about a girl who used to be rich but her father loses his job during the great Depression, and now she has to move to a dirty apartment building. My question is, was there wallpaper and luxurious mattresses and expensive European furniture and things like that in the 30s?

I'm at a complete loss here. Please bear with me. I graduated in '06 and went str8 to college the following Fall. I chose that school in particular because it was in my price range, I was familiar with the area and my friends were there. Big mistake! I hated it. Then I decided to transfer to another school in a different state. I'm here now and I just can't do it anymore. I can barely get up to go to class and now all of a sudden I feel like what I've been working towards is not really what I want to do. Im scared that I'm going to end up without a degree and unhappy. I was an honor student in high school, graduated with a 3.0(because I slacked and moved my sophomore year and got a 2.1) I feel like I can do so much better, but I can't even figure out what I want to do with my life. I'm tired of crying about this and feeling like a failure. I finally decided that I wanted to do something in the medical field, but that means that everything I've done thus far was in vain.
