every is singular, all is plural

You can say "The sun rises every day." You couldn't say the "The sun rises all day" could you? Marvin has explained why.

"Every" speaks of the items within a whole. "Every good boy does fine."

"ALL" denotes the group itself. "All good boys do fine."
