Yes -- you are on the right track. If you can get into Stuyvesant, then you will be in great shape. They offer great courses and will also have advisors to help you get into a great school.
To get into an Ivy League school, you will need a 3.8 average or better (unweighted). You should take as many AP and Honors classes as possible, giving you a weighted GPA above 4.0. You will have no problem doing this at Stuyvesant.
In addition, you will need SAT scores in the 2100-2200+ range.
Extracurriculars are important. But they are easy to fake and hard to verify -- so I suspect that they do not count as much as people think. These schools turn down more students who are qualified than they accept -- so you are right about needing to stand out. You can do this by taking unusual classes, but also with your interview and personal essay.
You have plenty of time -- just keep your eye on the prize.
-------------------
Contrary to what others may say, being rich is not the way into the Ivy League. Ignore those idiots.

It's now not that effortless to mention in view that you will have acquired six extra years to move; throughout that point, it perhaps ten occasions as difficult to get into some of the well universities within the US. That stated, it is a gamble it doesn't matter what GPA or awards or whatever you might have. It's a slender threat :/ That's simply the bloodless, difficult truth. As lengthy as you maintain up your grades(you MUST take each and every top degree direction(APs and IB) viable with a view to have the first-rate threat to get into Harvard), get an particularly top SAT(speakme round 2300...even a ultimate SAT rating might imply rejection from Harvard). It's visible that you are relatively encouraged to get into Harvard, however the blunt reality is that you simply by and large may not be in a position to wait Harvard. You can, nevertheless, have an excessively well threat at entering an Ivy League, perhaps now not the cream of the crop, however any Ivy League will have to suffice. Keep acing your publications and I'm confident you can be admitted into a minimum of one Ivy League. Even if matters cross horribly unsuitable, and also you emerge as going to a slash tier institution, this does not imply you can be unsuccessful. Don't fear approximately it, you look like an smart individual total and I'm definite you can have a excellent long term forward of you, without or with the Ivy League.

the second chick is right. 7th grd is too early. plus, u cant apply until the info like the fat book, the apps, and so on. so u should slow down a bit, im not even looking at colleges yet. i mean, u should kno where ur going still. and dont worry , i kno for a fact tht colleges dont care too much abt the clubs and sports. b/c say u got a 65 avrg, and played 5 diff sports and joined 10 clubs. the college wont accept u. say got a 90 avrg, no sport, no clubs. the college will consider u.

Although colleges do look at ur extra school activites and stuff, its not the main thing they look at, it only increases ur chances by a few. but other than that, if u keep up the good grades and take AP courses in high school and pass the AP exams for those classes, u can simply knock out ur first year of college. now im hoping i can get into a nice med skool (hopefully)

I feel a little bad for you that you are so focused on a goal which you may not even want when you get there, that you are doing things to look good to Ivy League schools, rather than because they interest you. Everything you are doing is great - if you find them fun and interesting - but if you are doing them only to get into college, you may burn out before you get there. Right now you are doing far more than any school expects of you in 7th grade. I'm not suggesting that you give it all up and become a slacker, but you need to take some time to enjoy life, too.

Latin is not as special as you think it is. That's the language all the upper-crust kids that want to go to fancy schools take. It will not set you apart.
