I live off of East Sunrise, and I just got my letter for childcare assistance. I want to find a good center close to home since I also work close. It also would have to take assistance from the state. Does anyone know of any or have any experiences about any- good or bad, so I know. Thanks

My brother has a PSP and I have a DS, so I figured I'd bring those. There's a DVD player in the car, but we don't have any new movies and the kids will only sit still for so long.

I guess I could bring coloring books. Maybe some snacks like Goldfish or something. Ummm ...

See, the thing is we're going to be doing most of our driving during the day. So I need ideas of stuff to keep them not-annoying!! xD

Also, we leave tomorrow (I pretty much just found out) so there's no time to go out and buy anything ...

And if you have any ideas for kid songs, tell me because I'm planning to make some CDs. The kids love songs like Who Let The Dogs Out and stuff like that.

This craft is for pre-K and K. It really should have no more than 5 or 6 pieces - and it should be able to be done in just one class session (which allows us about 20 minutes). The kids don't come regularly - so we can't have prep activities or drying time.

I'm teaching them about bravery/courage - and I thought a monster would be a great craft.

Thanks!

I want to know what's the difference between the two terms,as I'm a foreigner. I looked up a dictionary and found 'kindergarten' a right word for children before elementary school.
But I noiced Americans use preschools perhaps more commonly. what's the difference?

My son is 8, and still asks me for help with tying his laces. I know this is a tricky one for little ones, and I have tried showing him bunny-ears method and al sorts. When I was little there was a rhyme you would say to remind you - went something like over and under through the loop... but I can't remember exactly how it goes. So I would be happy if any of you clever buffs out there can jolt my memory.

When I was old enough to go to preschool, My parents had me screened to go. The school said I was too smart for preschool and there was no reason for me to go. Could me not going to preschool have anything to do with me being shy now? I am seventeen years old.

Has anyone NOT put their child through pre school? and if you have not, did it cause them problems in kindergarden?
My son is very smart, he is adding and subtracting, can (kind of) write and reads 3 letter words BUT HATES the parts of pre school where he has to sit on the rug. It has caused MANY problems including the teachers calling for me to pick him up.
They also suggested a "worker" come in and be with him for the duration of the school at all times, but when I asked the HEAD of the preschool, she said that is "not the first step" and that first a "worker" comes in and helps the teachers figure out better ways of dealing with ALL the kids.
The teachers also have asked me to pick my son up half hour earlier than the other kids, when this was brought up to the "head", she told me that this is not usuall and talked to the teachers who now will not talk or even look at me.
I am very discouraged here, my son hates pre school and says its boring!

Hello. I'm currently a stay at home mom. My oldest who is 4yrs old is in pre-K and my two little ones stay at home. My 4yr old has diffulty in pronouncing the letter F; he replaces it with the letter S. Instead of saying four, he says sour, sive, soot. Yet he can say the letter F, but is unable to say words that begin with the letter F. The school has recommended speech therapy, I honestly do not see the need if there is something that I can do at home before I go that route. I am also wondering if this will affect my 2yr old speech as well, because my 2yr old does not want to repeat new words that I introduce to him. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'm a volunteer at a homeless shelter. I help occupy kids for a few hours every Monday afternoon to give the parents time to do things (all of them are ages 3-5 currently) and I'm running low on ideas.

So the question would be obvious: Does anyone have any fun ideas for kids to take up an hour or two?
