by which time my son will be about a year old.

i was hoping to just pay for my sons childcare, as he will be under 3, but free early education for my daughter is only for 12.5 hours a week. if i get a job with more hours than that, i will have to pay for those hours.

None of the part-time roles i have seen are for as little as 12.5 hours a week, at best they are for 22-25 hours per week.

i had always assumed that from age 3, childcare was free for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week - so thats about 40 hours per week.

I am interested to know how other mothers are coping with childcare costs.

My girlfriend is going to start working at a German/English daycare center. They told her that she will be the English teacher....the children already speak English but then needed a teacher without an accent so that the children can learn proper English and pronunciation.

So my question is does anyone know what kind of games she can play with the children that involve talking or singing. The instructors want her to talking to them a lot so any suggestions you might have would be great.

I am in West Boca and work in East Boca, so either would be fine for me, I need a part-time facility, where I can pay only for the days we use, as we will be leaving the baby with the inlaws two out of the 5 days a week. There is a place nearby, the Bright Horizons location, but it is only pre-school, not infant.

I am trying to find a great infant learning center in Boca that will allow me to pay on an as-needed basis, or partially, I would only need them from Tue-Thursday, does anyone know of any good options? I have looked online, but I can't find any that fit into all of the categories...please let me know.

My husband is applying to jobs in Chicago, Dallas, and Manhattan for the 2009 school year. My older daughter will be 4 when we move, and my younger one will be two. I know that some programs have waitlists, so once we've honed in on where it looks like he will be employed i will start applying. I just don't know where to start. We are looking for a school that works individually with children in an environment that kids look forward to. Any suggestions?

She went to preschool for two hours for about three days and then refused to go back. Her mother didn't make her go back. She didn't like listening and sitting still. She doesn't want to share and when she doesn't get her way
she hits another little girl that plays with .She doesn't know most of her basics yet. She's the baby of the family, and you can really tell it.She will be 5 years and 8 months when she starts kindergarten next year.

I would like to know what is the best early childhood education method/type/approach,based on your experience. There are so many such as Shichida, Glen Doman, Thematic, Montesorri, 'natural' ie Vital Years, phonics ie Smart Reader, etc. But I can only afford to enrol her for one type only. Which is value for money? Pls don't answer parental coaching without any method.

My 4.5 year old son is so smart, I want his little mind to continue to flourish. I also want him to gain social skills and have fun. I think he is antsy at home and ready to explore and leave the house for part time preschool before he goes to Kindergarten next year. Any suggestions would be appreciated. We are a single income family and can't afford too much.

I'm a stay at home mom with a 2 1/2 year old girl and a newborn-I'm trying to find something I can do with my daughter to entertain her during the week. I'd like to have different days designated for certain activities (Monday: painting day...etc) .I just can't come up with enough ideas for her to do. All ideas are welcome! FYI: educational ideas are ok too.
