Education & Reference - 1 October 2007

I am an electrical engineering major (Bachelors) and after this semester I am pretty much done with my math and physics, GE, and other core engineering courses and only going to be taking EE classes. Will it get harder from this point on, easier, or the same. I have a 3.0 GPA so i didnt struggle through college nor do great.

Do these professors do research outside of teaching their college students?

If so, what kind?

Also, are there any other activities that math professors usually take part in outside of the classroom?

I live in Montana, am a white male, live with a single mom (income of $45,000), and have a sister in college. I hold a 4.0 GPA (not weighted) and rank 1st in a class of over 700. I will graduate as valedictorian. I will graduate with my Full Diploma in the International Baccalaureate Program. I have scored a 32 on my ACT (99th percentile). I am going to take the SAT II in Mathematics 2, Biology E/M, and U.S. History. I have scored a 213 on my PSAT and am a National Merit Semi-finalist. Early next year I will find out if I am a Finalist/Scholar. My extracurricular participation is as follows: Varsity Golf, Tennis, Speech and Debate, BPA, Spanish Club President, and National Honor Society. I have over 200 hours of community service. This includes but isn't limited to: Elementary School After-School Scholars, Rest Home, Underage Teen Pregnancy Home, Underprivileged Youth Golf Scramble, Elementary Spanish Class, and Rotary Basketball.

I have been teaching for 8 years. I am 28 right now in California. Teachers are treated HORRIBLY out here and I am finished. But I would LOVE to stay in the education career. What else is there besides teaching in a classroom?

I'm 15 (currently a high school sophomore) and have Complex Regional Pain Sydndrome/Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy in my right leg, and my biggest struggle right now is to maintain my schoolwork along with how bad my pain is. My husband's company gives a $5250 yearly tuition allowance. He will be attending school fulltime (BS Marketing) and has also applied for financial aid. His company reimburses tuition at the completion of the semester. FAFSA came back with a EFC of 0. How is this going to work?
