When people correct spellings on line, they sometimes make comments about the person not knowing the spelling, when it is actually a 'typo'. The difference being, a typing error is when the hand hits the wrong key although the mind knows the spelling.

Typical 'typo' signals are:
- double letter reverse (e.g. ball becomes blaa);
-Slight mis-ordering (close becomes colse);
-Leaving out or typing one letter twice;
-Hitting nearby letters instead of the intended one (no becomes bo, or bno).

Just asking because I can spell (I mis-typed that splell) but Can't (acn't) type too well. I do recognise typos when I see them though, and mention them as 'typos', without telling the person they 'can't spell'. You can see the difference by looking at the word then your keyboard, plus mis-spells often have sound patterns which typos don't.

Can you tell the difference?

Hey, I am in my last semester of junior college, hoping to transfer to one of the two UC schools for a biological science/BIochemistry major. I love to go to a school of great standard, nice social lifestyle and everything. I want to know which school to choose UC Davis or UC santa barbara. Hope to get replies from you soon, and give me reasons too. Thanks

Yes, I know -- I'm dumb. I went to a nationally accredited school for my Associate of Science. My degree is costly and meaningless. It was a for-profit school, too. Now I'm taking classes online from a regionally accredited for-profit school. I want out of this online and "for-profit" stuff.. I want to go to a REAL college. I live in Virginia and I'm wondering if there's any decent colleges that will possibly accept my transfer credit -- I don't wanna start all over again!

I mean, where did acronymed words like LOL, ROFL, or BRB come from? I just learnt them from my friends, and they probably learnt it from others, too. Makes me think on who came up with them. Penny for your thoughts?

What I mean is, how much income should someone expect after getting a BD? The reason I'm asking this is because I'm just about to start going to college to get my BD and I want to make sure that I can live a normal, independant life after I get it.

I'm enrolled in an class right now that is extremely difficult for me (out of my major, out of my interest) and I was contemplating withdrawing from it, so I can focus my energy and time in acing my other four classes. Would it look better on my academic application to the new school if I withdrew from that class, but got excellent scores in my other ones? Or would it be better to stick it through to the end, and get a slightly lower GPA overall (since the class is really difficult)? (I am past the drop deadline, it would have to be a withdrawal from course). Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read my question. Thank you so much!

The new ship Titanic II is sailing on her maiden voyage. As luck would have it, she strikes an iceberg. The leak created is taking in water at a rate of 3.25 tons every 12 minutes. The ship is 40 miles from the nearest land. The captain knows that the ship will sink if it takes in 68 tons of water. The pumps of the ship can throw out 12 tons of water every hour. With this damage, the ship can travel at 2.25 miles per hour.

Will the Titanic II sink before it reaches shore? If it does sink, how far from shore will it sink?
