The Spanish-American War of 1898, still stands as the best example of American Imperialism. The events that occurred after this war serve as the best examples of the economic, political, and social effects of American Imperialism.

The overseas territories of Puerto Rico, Philippines, Guam, and the Caroline Islands.

One of the most significant economic, political, and social effects of American Imperialism was the opening of Japan by Perry's Fleet. Had we not opened Japan, it would not have modernized so rapidly and we would not have had that half of WWII happen. Japan was rather insular and backwards at the time. The abrupt and forced contact with the US propelled Japan down the road that eventually led to WWII.

There were other effects, but when you consider the magnitude of the effects of opening Japan, that stands out as rather monolithic compared to all else.
