i am from the non english speaking society. nowdays i am trying to speak and write english,but when i started to write english i came accross some confusions about the use of proper prepositions. i came to know that following prepositions are used in following ways-
at- to designate spefic time and spefic address
on- to sedignate days and dates and names of street and avenues
in- use in nonspefic times during a day, a month, a session or a year and use in for the names of land- areas( town, counties, states, countries and continents).
but in the following sentences why we could not use other prepositions instead of used prepositions.
1.After having the several rounds of talks, parties failed to arrive at any consensus. Here why we cannot use on or in instead of at?
2. Seven killed in bus accident. Why cannot use on or at?
3. Security personnel and local people helped in the rescue of the injured passengers.
4.Election will be held on mixed system.

I have been reading through countless university websites, first I check obviously if they have the degree m looking for (hotel and restaurant management) and whether they are acredited or not... but only people who live in the US and really know the reputation of these institutions would probably be able to give me a bit more info... I would like to know if Cal state pomona is a good university? I have been told the area is not too good so that made me a little hesitant, has alliant international university got a good reputation? when students graduate from these institutions is it easy for them to find jobs? also I have been kind of hesistant about applying to northwood university... just general info good or bad that nayone might have for me? and any other suggestions of universities I could consider applying to?

I am applying for one of the most eminent investment banks. My problem is that my undergrad GPA is pretty low. I graduated from one of the best technical schools in the world. Otherwise, I have done very well in other exams. Should I mention my grades in the resume?

I'm applying to colleges soon and I'm just wondering if being Burmese, a country not in China makes me a minority or am I still looked at as "another Asian who I will review harder" for the college admission people? It's a southeast asian country.

where you spend more money i belive and study for way longer? I mean is there anything like you will get less paid because you graduated from a technical institue or there are only less chance's for you to find a job!! oh......sorry but one more question is it like you have way more to study in technical institute compared to normal college?.....hope my questions made sense. I heard of a test that I can take which lets you know what you want to be in life.. Where is it and how much?

I am 24 Years old I have 2 Associate degrees one in art and one in Science two seperate schools, I was Active duty Military for 4 Years . Honorable Discharge....

I have no clue what I want to do with th rest of my life I just know I cant go back into the Military...

I am 23 now, I have been thinking what to do with my life. The thing I love the most is helping people, I have worked at prisons, and even a boot camp for juveniles. I also serve in the us army in the field artillery, as target acquisition. I have always dreamed of getting an M.D. However I know that is very hard to obtain that title. I am not dreaming, or saying this after a show of grey's anatomy. Now I am a criminal justice major in college. The closest thing to science I have taken was philosophy. I am aware that I would have to take at least biology, maintain a good GPA. I also am aware of how competitive med schools are, and how they look at certain credentials, i.e. MCAT scores, volunteer work, researching, etc. I know all about dedication, and commitment; for that is what it takes to get into, and to succeed in med school. I have dealt with a lot of adversity in the military, especially being a combat MOS. Thank you for your appreciating my aspiration, and notions

i work till late10:30 p.m and i wake up at 06:00a.m every night.even though i can't manage with my studies!!!my school timings are from 06:30 am to 05:45 pm,at the center 1 hour intervals.my problem is that i want to study late night till 12:00midnight and i want to wake up at atleast 04:00a.m to keep up my studies. brothers and sisters please suggest me how can i over come or withstand my sleep??????

Another year of applying for multiple openings for teachers only to be ignored or have my experience discounted.

I have been substitute teaching mostly in elementary grades in several school districts. I have a good reputation and I am requested by many teachers for their classrooms when they are gone. I can't spend another year without benefits and better pay trying to prove my dedication to teaching.

My turning point was when an HR person made the statement that I was not considered for a position because they were concerned that I have too many years as a substitute teacher - the implication being that if I was any good, I would have been hired already. Several teachers with only student teaching who had just graduated were hired. Some of them haven't even passed the state required tests (they have up to two years after being hired). I have passed all of them. One has a mother that works as a teacher in the district.

Any thoughts?

I just got a P.O. Box, and I wanted to know if you have to include your name in the address in order to recieve it? I thought you could just put the P.O. Box number, city, state, and zip, but I'm not sure. This is probably a stupid question lol. Sorry in advance, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
