Those who graduate from a technical institute just think they are smarter with tools and crap. They are usually those "tough" guys who sucked at sports, so are learning how to fix an air conditioner or put in a cable box. So, in my opinion, go to a "normal" college and play cricket.

Going to a technical institute doesn't necessarily guarantee you a job, especially if you're going into a field that's already glutted, or if the jobs have been largely outsourced. If your grades were not that good, you're not going to have much success either. By all means attend such a place if you have a genuine aptitude or interest in the subject you're studying. Don't do it if you're only looking to get a high paying job and don't have much interest otherwise. You'll soon wash out of your job if you're lucky enough to even be hired.

Feel proud of going to a technical college. The world of today is technology and technical skills. There are millions of people going to big colleges who take subjects that do Zilch for anyone and humanity. Who needs more history majors, psycology majors and all the rest of the subjects that in the grand scheme of things do not contribute to mankind. Technical is where it is at, and yes you will get a good job.

On the contrary, technical education gives you more oppertunities to job, and better salary. It shall not make sence to talk about this being better way, or that being better way, technical education or pure academics, they are all knowledge, and have same status. The variation shall be at the receipiants level, and what kind of education one is looking for.
