If you believe in the Bible, the chicken came first. "And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. And God said, 'Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven'." Genesis 1:19-20. Chickens are a type of fowl, so the Christian Bible says that chickens came first.
If you have a different religion, you might have a different belief about the how the treasures of the earth came to be. In the science of evolution, both chickens and eggs came before man. Since both the birds and the eggs were on earth first, historians weren't around to record which came first.
Whichever answer you gave, it's okay. A chicken can't be born without a chicken egg and a chicken egg can't be laid without a chicken. Both chickens and eggs are important!

Many people debate over this question. Most likely is that some dinosaur or form of dinosaur slowly evolved to the chicken by laying the chicken egg. egg first most likely because the animal that laid the chicken egg was not a full fledged chicken.

Either way, the egg.
1. The first egg (of any sort) came before the first chicken
2. The first chicken came from a chicken egg

the chicken. God created the chicken. He did not create an egg first. The egg came after the chicken. Genesis is all the proof you need.

According to the bible. The Chicken came first.
Just like the first male and female of every living thing on earth.

Those of us who follow the Bible, the book of Genesis in particular, understand that the story of creation is an allegory that uses real animals and plants to represent how our Source caused vibrating energy fields to be manefest as those things we perceive as animals.
Adult animals and eggs that develop into adult animals exist at the same time in the human perception of time today as they did at the creation. Our perception of the dimention of time is quite different from the time for our eternal Source. If you are eternal, how long is your 'day'?
Just some 'food' for thought.
