I was a teacher's aide for 4 years before resigning to get my BS in Early Childhood ed. I still substitute teach (for 2 years now), but it seems that I will have to student teach because I resigned. No Child Left Behind apparently will prevent me from being able to do an internship. (Must be highly qualified and certified.) Do I have any other options given my experience?

I like to hear from teachers who have experienced both US and other countries students. I know the teachers our district recruited from India and the Philippines are having hard times adjusting to the US student behaviors. I personally have had little behavior problems from my ESL students that just came to the US from Mexico, China, Africa, etc. compared to the numerous problems I've had with the US students (or even foreign student have have been here a while). I'm trying to figure out if or why there is a difference in behaviors?

aside from my children, i like to keep pictures of just about every student i have at the end of the semester, but some people, even students feel I´ll do something shady with them. i earn their trust and respect (i think ) through the school year, but still some people are a little uneasy about it

If you give someone food, you're feeding them. What are you doing if you give them a drink?

(No, this isn't exceptionally important, just one of those little things you wonder sometimes.)

Hello, I just transferred to a new school. While I love the administration, the staff is very cold to me. It is a young staff whereas my old staff was much older than me. They do not say hello to me, even though I stop &make eye contact with them and say hello first. Some have even gone as far as to turn around when I speak to them. They also have made fun of me basically to my face regarding what I am wearing ( I am a fashionable dresser & they wear mostly jeans &tee shirts--don't know why--one did get marked on her evaluation). They have gossiped about me to students and even attempted to report me to the office for "allowing" my students to roam the halls and set the bathrooms on fire. Completely false--the bathrooms weren't even set on fire. Granted the whole staff isn't like this--just a few, but they drive me nuts. I do have quite a few friends there, I just hate feeling like I am in middle school rather than teaching there.
