I seem to have herringbone interference when I connect my pc to my tv to watch video files. I've done a lot of searching but not come up with a solution.

My set up is an s-video lead which is plugged into an s-video -> SCART converter, which plugs into the back of my tv in the SCART socket.

What's a likely solution to this? Perhaps a more expensive s-video lead? Perhaps the interference could come from the pc itself? I have tried it with nothing else connected to the tv and still had the same problem.

the tv constantly searches for channels on its own. It just started doing this maybe two days ago. At first we thought our remote was tore up and that it was doing it. But I took the batteries out of the remote and I am still having the problem. I have never heard of a tv doing this, so i was wondering if anyone had some insight into what is making my tv go haywire. Nothing has been spilled on the t.v. I have tried unplugging it thinking that its over heating as stupid as that sounds it didn't work either.
So does anyone know what this could be? if it is fixable or if i just need to trash the tv and get another one.

I have cable and use a splitter so I can have cable in my bedroom. I have noticed that when I disconnect the splitter and run the cable directly to the Sony it's an awesome picture but when I have the splitter connected so I can use my bedroom tv the picture isn't as good. Any ideas as to how to fix this. Getting tired of changing the cable connection. Sorry this is so long and complicated, thank you.

Prices for buying HD seem pretty high so I was wondering if doing it this way would be a better value, or if the quality of the picture would go way down doing it this way.

I plugged it in to the power. Then I plugged up my PS3 with the red, white, and yellow cables going into their respective holes on the modulator. Then, I screwed the cable cord from the wall into the modulator. Then i took a coaxel cable and screwed one end into the TV and the other end into the modulator. The modulator had a switch on it that said "channel three and channel four". I switched it to channel four and then turned on the TV. Nothing showed up, only static. No cable, no playstation when i turned the playstation on. I had it on channel 4 the whole time, then i changed it to channel 3. i tried ALL the combinations possible and still no signal on the TV. I unscrewed all the cords and then plugged the Cable cord directly into the TV like it was before. But this time, the cable was all fuzzy on the TV. and it was like that on all the TVs in the house. Fuzzy. so now the Cable is messed up. But, I still want to know why the PS3 wasnt showing up on the TV like it should.

When I turn on the TV the center is blacked out with only the right and left edges showing. When I switch channels the picture restores for a second and then the center blacks out again. Why is this, how do I fix it?

I am planning to get a Samsung lcd soon its either going to be a 40 in or 42in lcd. Now I want to know do I really need to get a 1080 lcd or will I be fine with a 720 if I plan on sitting about 6 feet away from the tv. I plan on using it for watching hd dvds and playing ps3. If possible show a source that discusses this topic on 1080 vs 720. The ones i read said there is no real noticable difference until you get to 50 inches and above.

So he doesn't have to pay for them. He gets all the channels, Setanta, movies, sports, etc. But i'm not sure if he gets the "Sky Box office" channels.
Does anyone know the channel numbers of these channels. The last time there was a pay-per-view boxing mach on, we flicked through all the channels and couldn't find it.
The return path doesn't work, so telewest can't send signals back to the box. so we can't order the fight either. Normally, I think the channels where you have to press the red button to get into don't work on the chipped box.
Does anyone know anyone with a chipped Telewest box and can tell me if you can get the "box office" channels and if so, what the channel numbers are.
It's the Hatton Mayweather fight I want to see - C'MON THE HITMAN!

P.S. I know chipped boxes are illegal and I don't care!

Thanks
