the tv constantly searches for channels on its own. It just started doing this maybe two days ago. At first we thought our remote was tore up and that it was doing it. But I took the batteries out of the remote and I am still having the problem. I have never heard of a tv doing this, so i was wondering if anyone had some insight into what is making my tv go haywire. Nothing has been spilled on the t.v. I have tried unplugging it thinking that its over heating as stupid as that sounds it didn't work either.
So does anyone know what this could be? if it is fixable or if i just need to trash the tv and get another one.

also when I use the remote to turn the channels up or down they seem to skip on their own accord. It's crazy I will turn from 14 to 15 and it will keep changing the channel despite that I have removed my hand from the channel changing button

Sounds like a probem with the tuner. .. It is a small device that your cable tv wire plugs into.. You will have to check on prices and measure it against the cost of the tv?

I deal in big screens so it would be worth the cost to replace but with a generic tv it would probably not be worth it.

Call and get some estimates .. Could not hurt..

Thanks

Very good suggestions from all. Looks like the tuner can't lock, however do try this as well to check if the IR receiver is the problem. Use some dark tape or paper to BLOCK the IR receiver in the front of the TV and see if it helps. If not, then it is probably a tuner issue.

Not sure if this would help. On the TV itself there should be buttons for a menu. It should be with the picture adjusting buttons. Depending on how old the tv is! Mess with the buttons on the tv they should should stop scanning. sorry i cant help if I dont know what type of tv u have. Good luck!

You didn't say what kind of tv you have. You need to go into the menu and change the antenna feature to cable (if you have cable tv). Go into the menu and jack around with the options.

Try covering up the sensor on the TV to make sure it's not some kind of interference. Maybe your neighbor has a really strong remote. :-) If you cover it up really well and it still does it, you at least know it's broken internally.

You didnt say if u wer on cable or not? If it`s a cable co. then call them,may-b the converter box. They`ll reboot it over the phone.or get u a new box.
