Can I use an HDMI cable and HDMI port on a TV that isn't an HDTV?

(but you will discover that only HDTV's have HDMI ports.)

If your TV has an HDMI port, then you can use it, provided the driving device can put out a signal with a resolution that your TV can handle. This is possible, but unlikely.
