You might have to set your digital box up to output sound via HDMI depending on what kind the box is. I can tell you how my box works so you can get the idea of where to find it. Hit settings 2 times and scroll down to audio out, hit select and look for HDMI out. If that doesnt work you may think you are using HDMI but might have DVI. If that is the case audio does not transmit through those cables.
Good luck with the settings, if you cant get it call your cable company and have them show you or fix it for you.

I was in Radio Shack and the Manager told me I had to have HDMI cable, and an audio cable to get both video and sound.

He believed this because his HD cable box produced video, but no sound with HDMI and the phone-techs at TimeWarner did not know enough to tell him to go into the setup menu on the cable box to enable sound out through the HDMI jack.
