This is not as easy to answer as some might think. There are several potential ways to do it, each with its own peculiarities:
1. VGA - always analog. PC will surely have this connection, and the HDTV may or may not. If the HDTV has it, then this is the one to use.
2. DVI - maybe digital, maybe analog. If the PC is new, then it may have this connector. If the TV is old, then it may have the connector.
3. HDMI - always digital, and may not work due to HDCP (copy protection). I don't expect your PC has HDMI.
4. Component video (Y/Pb/Pr... three RCA) - always analog, and may not be available on your PC...
5. RGB (three RCA with different signal than #4) - always analog, and may not be available on your TV. The PC probably outputs RGB, but would require an adaptor.

S-Video and HDMI cables will work if you have that output from your PC. But most HDTV's have a PC input which is the same as your monitor cable. You can buy extension monitor cables for this purpose.
