I turn on my tv and it is black. You can hear the sound of the tv but there is no picture(pitch black). I have cable also and it is working but the only problem is that the tv picture won't come on. Sometimes I will turn on my tv and it will shut back off for a few seconds. Sometimes I will have to unplug the tv just to turn it on. What can I do besides buying a new tv?

Was searching Wal-Mart...and found a LCD HDTV...Up to 1080i res...1000:1 contrast ratio...BUT it's made by iLo so I'm kinda weary about it being an off brand...but then there is a Sanyo that has up to 1080i res...HDMI port...but only has 800:1 contrast...so I'm at a crossroads...any suggestions?

My 12 yr. old 37" Sony television has never needed repair until now. The color has left; it shows only black and white pictures, except for a 3" round burgundy spot in each corner. Do I need a new picture tube? I've unpluged it on occasions to reboot it, but the color doesn't return. Is there an inexpensive way to remedy this? Thanks in advance for all replies.

I've tried TiVo and loved most of its features, especially search by keyword, director, actor, etc. Somehow I now have the far inferior Time Warner DVR service and am considering going back to TiVo. Before I do that, do you know of other services that I may like? I have broadband and run a Mac, so a computer based service may be an option, but something makes me nervous about that. Thanks.
