I bought a Sony wide-screen CRT because it was sitting next to a couple of LCD's at the store and after changing a few channels, the CRT appeared to provide a better picture for a lot less money. Sony is really good.

Believe it or not, CRT's STILL offer a better picture. Mine is a 30" crt widescreen and looks better than a comparable 32" lcd ws. Go to your fave store and look at them side-by-side. Actually, I should say the CRTs are better for gaming & HDTV pictures because the LCD can't keep up with some of the digital action and leaves 'shadows' running across the screen. But, if you're NOT going to play video games and NOT gonna use the tv for HDTV viewing, then an LCD is a good choice as well. Remember, when buying a tv, you should look into the future and then make sure there are the right connections on the back of the tv to take you into that future.

And I bought a Sony LCD because it's great. Newer LCDs are quite fast and the picture quality is second to none.

Go with Plasma the speed factor is not an issue like it is with and LCD. The Samsung HD4233 and some others have a basic cable filtering built into the TV to clean up crappy Cable Signals.
