I am looking for an HDTV and I know what I want, but I need help.
I am wanting a 720P Widescreen LCD HDTV between 37 and 42 inches. I do not want 1080P, 1080i, Plasma, DLP, CRT, or EDTV. I would prefer a brand that I know like Sony, Toshiba, or some other well known brand, and not Phillips or Magnavox. I want something with a good picture and good sound. I also don't have a lot of money to work with, $2,100 is my max amount. Where can I find my dream HDTV and what will it cost? I do not want one from the Internet, I want to see the TV myself IN PERSON. But for the most part I just want a reference of what your opinions are, and what you recommend.

And I know 1080P and Plasmas look the best, but I have reasons on why I prefer 720P and LCD.

I have a dvd player that is connected to a vcr that is connected to a t.v. Until recently, this set up has worked fine. In the past few weeks, when watching dvds, the sound will start to "skip" (picture is find--the sound only is effected) in the middle of a movie or such. We have tried cleaning the head (with the cleaning disk) and nothing worked. Finally, we decided to buy a new dvd player yesterday and it is doing the same thing! So, what am I missing here? I checked and VCR tapes play fine (no sound skipping). The cords that connect the DVD & VCR players are new (came with the new DVD player). So, what is the problem? The T.V. plays fine too (when not playing a dvd). Help, please...

I want to buy a TV in the states (where they're cheaper) and have it sjhipped to me in the UK (Where I am stationed). All the TVs I have seen avail in the States have tuners that are NTSC, and they also have a variety of video inputs, the most common being S-Video. The question is this: Is the NTSC/PAL thing a part of the TV or a part of the tuner? ie, if one were to buy a TV with an NTSC/ATSC tuner, could one pump video signals into it from a British telecom (format = PAL) set top box?
