Every TV I have brought into my new apartment has been struck by lightening and no longer works. Is it possible to fix them?

My Grandparents kept having the same thing happen because they live on top of a mountain. My Grandfather said that what the price of a new tv is compared to the cost of fixing one that is struck by lightening is about the same so you might as well just get a new one. What they ended up finally doing was getting this device which plugs into the wall & then you plug your tv into it and they guarentee it will save your tv or your money back so it ends up being worth it & my Grandparents never had a problem after they got it, as a matter of fact their neighbors all went out & got them too. The only down side is you need one for every tv in your house so it can get expensive but it does save you from replacing your television. Check the web for devices that save your tv from lightening, you might even find a used one on ebay. You might find them @ Walmart, if not try an electronic store that's where they bought their's @. Good luck.

Russ is right. Almost everything is fixable, but you would pay way more for the labor charges than a new set would cost. The other thing is sometimes components get stressed but don't actually fail for another 3-4 months. By that time, your insurance claims have been used up.

first of all-find out which part of your apartment is being struck-and have a lightning arrestor fitted to it. any appliance taking a direct strike is fixable(depending on the power of the bolt) -but it would be cheaper to replace the unit.
