I am looking for an HDTV and I know what I want, but I need help.
I am wanting a 720P Widescreen LCD HDTV between 37 and 42 inches. I do not want 1080P, 1080i, Plasma, DLP, CRT, or EDTV. I would prefer a brand that I know like Sony, Toshiba, or some other well known brand, and not Phillips or Magnavox. I want something with a good picture and good sound. I also don't have a lot of money to work with, $2,100 is my max amount. Where can I find my dream HDTV and what will it cost? I do not want one from the Internet, I want to see the TV myself IN PERSON. But for the most part I just want a reference of what your opinions are, and what you recommend.

And I know 1080P and Plasmas look the best, but I have reasons on why I prefer 720P and LCD.

Try Sony or Samsung. They both use the same LCD (Samsung makes them), but the difference is the electronics and packaging. They are both good, though I believe Sony's version gets slightly higher rating from the professionals. Most people won't notice the difference.

Just like the other person said, Sam's Club or Costco carries Vizio line of LCD. They are very inexpensive and, I believe, uses LG's LCD. LG/Philips are the world's largest manufacturer of LCDs. I've seen Vizio LCDs in person and do like 40" and above, and many that have purchased Vizio LCDs enjoy them every day. Vizio's 40" is either $1500 or $1600.

Costco also carries Sony's 40" LCD. I've also seen this version in person and like it. It's under $2K.

Hopefully you are a Sam's Club member and you have one nearby, because their Vizio models are very nice and at a good price. You are gonna have to get one with 1080i because they all come with that now, but that is okay because they support 720p as well. I don't think they make any with 720p and not 1080i. As a general rule whatever the highest setting it supports, it will support everything below that as well. I think the 37" Vizio is about $1000 so take a look there. They also have the name brand ones you are talking about, they are just a little more expensive.
