I have comcast cable with the HDTV upgrade. But when I watch the HDTV channels, they are letterboxed with a black bar on top and bottom of the screen. Shouldn't the HDTV channels take up the full screen?

Just bought a new freeview box and have found to my total dissappointment that I don't seem to be able to get many of the channels while others work absolutely fine.

001 - BBC1 - Works
002 - BBC2 - Works
003 - ITV1 - No Signal
004 - Channel 4 - No Signal
005 - Five - No Signal
006 - ITV2 - No Signal
007 - BBC Three - Just get the info screen so not sure or not
009 - BBC Four - Just get the info screen so not sure or not
010 - ITV3 - No Signal
011 - Sky3 - Works
012 - UKTV History - Works
013 - More 4 - No Signal
014 - E4 - No Signal
015 - ABC1 - No Signal
016 - QVC - No Signal
017 - UKTV Gold - No Signal
018 - The Hits - Works
019 - UK TV Brt Ideas - Works
020 - ftn - Just get the info screen so not sure or not
021 - TMF - Works

Other info is I'm in a Freeview Zone according to freeview.co.uk (3 miles outside Manchester city centre) and house was built 2 yrs ago so would assume they put in all the right gubbins for digital TV reception

...when all of the US television broadcast companies are going to switch to all digital and the analog TVs of today will be obsolete?

TVs are just now (Sept '06) becoming available with digital tuners. What are you going to do between now and then? Perhaps there will be an adapter available by then, but who knows?

The last time I can remember something like this happen was when leaded fuel was taken off the market.

It must have it's own HD tuner built-in.

It doesn't matter what size or what type of television set.

(And no, it can't be stolen. LOL)

I am looking for an HDTV and I know what I want, but I need help.
I am wanting a 720P Widescreen LCD HDTV between 37 and 42 inches. I do not want 1080P, 1080i, Plasma, DLP, CRT, or EDTV. I would prefer a brand that I know like Sony, Toshiba, or some other well known brand, and not Phillips or Magnavox. I want something with a good picture and good sound. I also don't have a lot of money to work with, $2,100 is my max amount. Where can I find my dream HDTV and what will it cost? I do not want one from the Internet, I want to see the TV myself IN PERSON. But for the most part I just want a reference of what your opinions are, and what you recommend.

And I know 1080P and Plasmas look the best, but I have reasons on why I prefer 720P and LCD.

I bought an EDTV television and its nice, but is HD really better? Furthermore, this may sound dumb but if I had an HDTV, would I have to pay for that extra cable box for HD or is it just intrinsically better? Thank you in advance...
