yes it will record as long you dint turn off the cable if you have but if you dint you just turn off the TV and it will record your show

It depends on how you have the source setup. If you have the cable from the wall directly to the VCR and then to the TV, then yes it would work.

If you have satellite or cable and you have the cable plugged from the wall to your cable or satellite box, then your cable or satellite box would have to be turned on.

If you went funky and have a video out from the TV then no.
