when I turned on the tv and there is a flashing red light next to the power button despite there is no picture. Want know what's wrong with the tv and need suggestion how to get it fixed. I think it might be either picture tube is busted or or picture bulb.

Defective 470uF/ 16 volt electrolytic capacitor on the power supply board. Supplies power to the microprocessor. This is the
most common problem I see with this set. Find a reputable T.V. shop. Great T.V set. Worth fixing. Picture tube is not the problem.

Try unplugging the set and plug it in again to see if it resets it. If not, you should have it looked at by a Certified Sony Technician. Or, it may be in your best interest to invest in a new set -preferably either a Digital TV or an HDTV.

Sony's have great picture quality, but have been known to last only 5-10 years before servicing is required.

Not tube related. If it was you would have sound. See if you can get a used main board for it and repalce it yourself. might be able to find one for around 100 bucks.
