Dear oh Dear , What a sad couple of answers by the negative thinkers, The fault you describe is caused by a dried out electrolytic capacitor in the vert amp circuit , probably 35 volt 4.7mfd ! cost ? a staggering 50 cents to a dollar if you buy a good one ! . Any half competent TV tech would fix this as a house call. !! . Ask a real TV tech preferably one that can repair at component level , all the new computer age techs don't repair any more , they just replace whole boards at great cost !. Oh and a 29 inch Sanyo for $100 ! not in my country ( Australia ) anyway do a bit more research before you bin it ! Regards Pete

Your TV is worth about $100. The standard bench fee (just to look at it) is probably $60-$180. The conditions you describe is with the board (and you have to replace the whole board, regardless of the problem) or the tube. Either of which is a $300 repair.

You can get a brand new 27in TV for less than $300. I hate that we are a throw away society, but the path is clear.

+ Check to see if you still have a warranty on it. What you are describing are the beginnings of the end for that TV. If you can afford it give it as a donation somewhere and get a tax write off while it is still working, then buy a new one.

Good Luck
