Question 1 - LCD (liquid Crystal Display) is the same thing that a flat panel computer monitor or laptop screen is. The difference between it and a projection LCD is size and price. Quality is similar.
Question 2 - Gaming from a PC or x-box is best done on the flat panel LCD (if you are only comparing flat panel versus projection).
Question 3 - Sony, Toshiba, and Panasonic all make good LCD flat panels.
Question 4 - Take your x-box and favorite game to Best Buy, and try the ones that fit in your budget. You are looking for picture quality in low light action as well as shifting from low to bright light, and speed (the ability of the screen to keep up with the action without blurring, skipping, hesitating, or pixelating). make up your own mind after the demo - you are the one that has to live with it. Trust me, you will feel a lot better with your coice if you follow this process. Don't buy something because someone in here owns that model and likes it (they may only own llamapalooza 2 or something, not Halo 12 or whatevever version it is now).

First off, there's no such tv as an LCD Projection tv. That's 2 different technologies. An HDTV with a CRT tube is your BEST for playing video games. LCD will have 'chasing shadows' during the peak action. HOWEVER, if you're playing games with a Playstation 3 OR an Xbox 360 (must be 360) then you MUST get an LCD because these consoles have solved the problem of the 'chasing shadows'. :-)

jumping_in_101's answer to Question #4 is VERY SMART ADVICE... Take it! :-)
