Our church needs to purchase a DVD recorder so we may distribute video DVD's of the services.
A computer is capable of "live time" burning/rercording DVD, is it not? Why do we need to purchase high dollar equipment to record each sermon? We might be able to feed the camera signal to our computer and burn a DVD? Please offer solutions or web sites, thanks

We have digital cable with DVR that we get through our city cable company. Wyandotte cable.

Anyways, after we came back from trick or treating last night, turned on the cable, it wasn't working. It was on channel 0 and wouldnt let us do anything else to it.

Its been 24 hours now and the customer service people are horrible and have not helped us yet.

We were able to go to the menu set up cable fx function and it said the following:

"a/b disabled mca not connected" whats that mean? please help. thanks in advance!

I recently purchased a DVD recorder.
The instruction manual states that I must have a DVD+RW or DVD+R disc in order to record. I purchased DVD-RW disks. When I put the DVD-RW disc into the drive, it would not recognize the disc.

Is there a difference between DVD+RW and DVD-RW?
Is this why the player would not recognize the disk?

What is the monthly service fee from directv for an hd dvr reciever in one room and regular dvr in the other?

What about the monthyly service fee for hd dvr in one room and a regular reciever in the other.

Im just talking about those specific services. not the channel packages.

I currently have directv dvr reciever in one room and a regular directv reciever in the other.. I was planning on upgrading (removing) the dvr to the hd dvr, but now Im wondering how the monthly costs comes out for a dvr and hd dvr.

My reasons for asking this are maybe different from typical... I've been having to use a (cheap as all hell) DVD recorder for work, transferring some materials from VHS to disc.... and it really is the most abysmal piece of dreck. Though, i'm not entirely convinced it is the recorder (though it has a few standout points that are probably an effect of being low-end, they're fairly minor) but more of a general failing of the format. Such as stopping recording entirely when hitting a minor blemish on the disc (instead of just bleeping over it), taking forever to spin up & start recording, having inconsistent recording times vs what's claimed (2hrs disc in EP mode ("x3") = 5h50??) and a whole catalogue of other annoyances that make me want to launch the thing into orbit. Vs a tape recorder that, although not super high quality, generally puts stuff on tape without murmur and gets to work within 5 seconds of inserting a cassette.

Or am I wrong? Do pricier ones work better? (hope so!)

He's going to wake up on an hour or so! Can anyone help me, or do I need to find a new boyfriend?

I really want a dvr but I am not willing to pay a monthly service fee for it on top of my already expensive cable bill. My question is, are there any brands of dvr where you don't have to pay a monthy fee? You know, just like an old school vcr only way better. Links are greatly appreciated.

I just got a cable service because I moved and didn't want to deal with getting a new dish installed and they wanted alot of money to install if I didn't give DISH an 18 month commitment. I am starting to regret it. The Motorola cable box I got from comcast can only record about a week or less of the shows I watch.(I record alot). There is a really bad lag using the box too. I switch between fast forward and play and it take at least 2 seconds. Also I have to raise my arm up to point the remote at the box in order for it to do anything. The DISH box I could point the remote the opposite direction and it would work.

Does anyone else have these problems with the comcast box? Is there an upgrade option to a better box? I read a story about Comcast offering TiVo boxes in some areas, can you get these in San Jose?
