I recently bought 'Bush DFTA1001 Digital Scart Adaptor' which has freeview on it.Before i got this I had a scart lead connected to the back of the tv,and the other end connected to the back of the dvd player, and could record analogue tv of the dvd recorder. Now,because i only have 1 scart socket at back of my tv,I had to buy a multi scart 'Commtel 4 Way SCART Selector'.So now I connected the 'Commtel 4 Way SCART Selector' to the back of my tv,and put the scart which i disconnected from the tv into the 'Commtel 4 Way SCART Selector',and also put the 'Bush DFTA1001 Digital Scart Adaptor' into the 'Commtel 4 Way SCART Selector',but the problem is that for me to watch analogue tv i have to keep switching the tv aerial to and from the 'Bush DFTA1001 Digital Scart Adaptor'and the back of my dvd recorder. The aerial at the back of the recorder lets me watch and record analogue tv, but once i connect the aerial to the 'Bush DFTA1001 Digital Scart Adaptor'i can only watch freeview, not record it,?

From what I gather Replaytv just doesn't have a solution for HD programming. TOO, TOO BAD. I don't want Tivo S3, nor the comcast DVR. Is there a third option to build into a computer that can be dedicated to HD DVR? I assume it will have to be something used on a PC, and I'll need to get a good Video card, and some type of TV tuner card. Any suggestions?
Thank you.

I have this DVD recorder and it was working fine at first, but then I changed the brand of recordable DVD, this new brand is about $10 lesser, and my recorder started to make weird sounds after that.

My guess is that it was having problems reading the DVD, but I'm not sure...and then whenever I stop my recording, there will be sounds and then the recorder would shut of and the disc that I just recorded would not work. There would be a message saying that there's nothing on the disc or there's no empty spaces left, even though there should have been. Also, that DVD wouldn't be able to play...

So my question is, is the problem occurring because of my DVD recorder or the new brand of recordable DVD?

It appears that there are no DVD recorders with HDMI or component inputs, so there is no point in recording High Def programming and then burning them on a disc. Does anyone know any different? Only other option I can think of is a media center PC.

I'd be content having DVR capability for Fox, PBS, CBS, ABC etc that I can get for free via antenna. Being able to record would be a plus! Thanks much for the help.

Ive jsut got a freeview box for my bedroom (only a cheap £20 from Asdas) and its bloody annoying not being able to watch UKTV Gold and great channels that you have to pay for!
Is there any way that i can get around paying for these channels, and recive them for free?

Ive got the "Durabrand" box from Asda, with the v1.7 firmware.

Thanks,

have to pay for tivo service and have a phone line hooked up to it
I'm happy with standard cable and don't want to pay for 150 channels when I only watch a few so the cable box dvr is out.
...........................................................................................................
I have searched the web for DVR'S and I have found some that are not TIVO the brand I recognize is RCA. Does anyone know if I can hook this up like a VCR and just record the programs that I want without having to subscribe to a service which I refuse to do but i will spend $500 on a DVR that will work the way I want. Thank you in advance for real honest answers.
