DVDs can store about 5 GB
CDs can store about 650 MBytes

Both can store data, music, video, etc. So the difference is capacity.

Digital Video Disk, Compact Disk. the DVD can store images, files, pics, etc.... the CD only stores audio.

dvd-r disks only record movies, videos, etc. cd-r can record music, pictures, files etc...
