To watch ATSC broadcasts you will need to add an external ATSC tuner to your TV. You can order these now over the Internet for about $90, but if you wait until Jan 2008 the government will be giving away $40 off coupons that will allow you to two of them for about $20 each.

You can also go to Walmart now and buy DVD recorders and DVRs with ATSC tuners built in. All of these will convert the ATSC signals to the NTSC analog signal that your TV needs.

To qualify for the coupon program, the converters have to receive all ATSC & NTSC channels and have both RF (antenna out) and RCA composite outputs.

Get a converter which should be available in 2008 (if not already available) or buy an ATSC receiver at Circuit City or Best Buy and use with a TV that has video and audio inputs. No video and audio inputs? Add a RF modulator to it to make it output on channel 3 or 4. Be sure to set the ATSC receiver for 480i (480 lines interlaced) output.
