Is it still possible to get the raw satellite feed from the tv networks?
In the late 80's and early 90's you could watch the video feed from the networks during the commercials and see some wild behind the scenes stuff.

Had Sky for about 18 months now, paid the £99 for a Sky+ box.
Have now decided I can no longer justify paying for Sky so want to get rid of it. What will happen to the box that I've paid for? I heard from someone it can be used as a freeview box if you cancel your subscription (their logic was based on the fact that if you don't pay one month, Sky cut you off, but the freeview channels remain). Is this true? Will Sky+ privileges still work (i.e. will I still be able to schedule and record programs?)

We got our DVR with DirecTV last winter, and from the beginning have had trouble with it's failing to record a series, failure to record full episodes of a show (gives out after the first 10 minutes), and trouble fast forwarding and rewinding. We were never told that we had to buy insurance on the DVR to have it serviced after 90 days of owning it. Last night, we were playing a recorded show. It started to become a little grainy, the screen went blank, and now the unit won't even turn on, although it sounds like it's running when it's plugged in. We've checked the cable, have tried to reset it (blue waiting screen that eventually goes black), and are at our wits end. From what DirecTV told us previously, we'll have to buy a new DVR or sign up for another 2-year contract if we send this one back. Anyone else have this much of a problem? Have you dealt with the company? Is it worth reporting this to the Better Business Bureau? Any help is appreciated.

I have DirectTV with an HD receiver. I want to add an HD DVR to start recording programming. I can buy a new DirectTV HD DVR for $299 + $4.99 per month. Units are backordered bigtime. It appears TiVo 's new HD box won't work with my DirectTV.

What other options do I have for recording my TV programming? I have a high-end laptop with Windows Media Center (and plenty of storage via external hard drives) on it but no internal tuner card.

Thanks for your help

I have a DVR that seems to record stuff part of the time. Like my CSI programs seem to record just fine. But, when I recorded NCIS or other programs, the unit won't turn on and record. Sometimes, I'll have two programs back to back like NCIS and The Unit and one will record but the other won't. And then, last night, NCIS was on and the DVR wasn't record so I turned it on and got only 45 mins of the porgam. COuld my DVR have a hard drive issue?

When the Tivo dual tuners first came out I bought one from Tivo directly, the problem I had was the unit strecthed the picture to 16/9 even thought I had it set for 4/3, I've had a "series 2" single tuner unit for 4 years and never had that problem, one Tivo tech told me that was normal and another told me it was not so I returned the unit.
I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem, both Tivo units where hooked up the same way, they are wired to my Yamaha receiver and then to a 50" Sony LCD 16/9 tv. Thanks for any help, Joe
