I have Freeview and think it is great. I think the choice of channels are pretty good considering your only outlay is buying a receiver. I have never, and will never, give Sky a penny as I think it is overpriced and not value for money, but that's just me.

I've tried freeview in three areas of the country with good results. The picture quality is excellent (I use a Humax PVR). A friend has just bought a 40" HD LCD and finds that the freeview picture can be better than sky with markedly less pixelation present on some of the commonly used channels.

I agree with Redhen - sensible sort of girl.
Good stuff on about 10 or 15 channels but rubbish on most of the others. Films on regular terrestrial channels and filmfour. Classy stuff on BBC4 and a few music video channels. Quite a lot of dross and shopping but you can't get away from that. No weird god channels and unfortunately not much sport. One good thing is you can have a freeview box on several different TVs in the house (all off the same aerial) and all be watching different programmes. To do that with Sky costs a bomb. Who wants a zillion channels of garbage anyway?

Freeview is ok, but I really miss sky one, uk food, discovery, etc.

We switched to freeview cos its cheaper than sky, I found sky really expensive for what we were getting.

There are only a few channels I miss, so Im glad we switched, we save £50 a month not having sky.

Freeview is cheap (you only pay for the box). It gives you around 40 channels of rubbish instead of the analogue 5. Picture quality is generally awful compared to Sky because of the higher compression.

Freeview is for people who dont want to be done up the pooper by Sky to the tune of 40 odd quid a month.

with freeview its around £30.00 + depending on the speck.
i got mine from Argos and its good ,better than 5 channels on your tv. Its not as good as sky as sky you have the advantage of more channels sky movies ,sports, discovery etc. but look what you have to pay. from around 7.50 up to 40+ pounds a month and then you got your PHONE BILL and internet on top every month. Its a rip off. go back to the early days when sky was around £10.00 a month and you got everything.
i just got bt broadband around £10.00 a month for the first 6 months then it goes up to £17.99 for 12 months after that also gives me a phone line in my modem for free uk landline calls evening and weekends. T-Mobile contract £35.00 a month gives you £180.00 worth of calls anytime it includes mobiles. so what i save on sky i benifit with T-Mobile.............
Bills.Bills... sky has an option if you have dish and box you pay something like £40.00 one off payment and they switch you on to Freeview..
