I have a DVR that seems to record stuff part of the time. Like my CSI programs seem to record just fine. But, when I recorded NCIS or other programs, the unit won't turn on and record. Sometimes, I'll have two programs back to back like NCIS and The Unit and one will record but the other won't. And then, last night, NCIS was on and the DVR wasn't record so I turned it on and got only 45 mins of the porgam. COuld my DVR have a hard drive issue?

Go to the "select programs to record" menu and select "record history" If you had a program scheduled to record and it didn't, it should be listed with an explanation of why it didn't record. You can run into problems if you set your recordings to start early or end late. So if two programs are consecutive, and the second tries to record before the first (and something else is tying up the other tuner), you will not get the second recording, even though the conflict is only a minute or two.

Are you using the Season Pass or picking each individually? If you are using Season Pass and have more than two things at the same time - the 3rd won't record.

make sure you have two lines coming into the satellite box from the sat antenna, the newer dtv dvr's have dual tuners and should allow you to record programs simultaneously and back to back
