If you have one of the big Motorola digital cable boxes, you can plug the Tivo straight into with a cable that should have come with your Tivo -- a skinny metal plug on one end and a wide computer-style plug on the other. The skinny metal end plugs into the "Serial" hole on the back of your Tivo (above the IR hole) and the other end into the right-looking plug on the back of your cable box.

Otherwise, you have to use the IR emitters that came with your Tivo, one end plugs into the IR hole on the back of your Tivo, and the other ends, which are thin black plastic rods with a trangular hook-like end with a little LED in it, has to sit on top or below your cable box with the LED pointing at the cable box window. Then you need to go into Tivo Setup and tell Tivo what kind of cable box you have so it can send the right IR signals to the box.

well i have digital cable from cox communications and ya know it records all my shows right on the tv. it's now like a video player tivo, it's new technology you can pause it, rewind, and fastfoward. it's so great i love it. but i do have to pay $83 and something dollars a month for it, but cox communications is lucky i love cable that much. because they wouldn't of never got that much from me!
