I have DirecTV installed in family room and master bedroom. I recently bought a 3rd DirecTV w/DVR receiver for spare bedroom. Bedroom has coaxial cable outlets but during set-up, I don't appear to get any signal strength. Customer Service told me that the bedroom is not connected to the dish the way the other rooms are. I am clueless with this kind of technology. How do I find out where the coaxial cables in the spare bedroom run? If they're connected the the dish or not? and how to get the receiver a signal?? Any help or info would help out tremendously! Thank you!

adult shows and my daughter has some children shows that are on there also and I want to delete all of them. Do I have to call Dish up and have them set back to factory installs or what? Nobody remembers setting the password numbers. And if they were setwe would have used the same #'s that is used always and it's not unlocking them. Help I want to delete all of this .

I recently bought the original DVD release of The Da Vinci Code (2 Disc Extended Version). It came with two discs. The first disc contains the movie itself and the second one is packed with special features. The second disc works fine but whenever I try to play the first disc my Toshiba DVD player gives me the error message "Disc playback unauthorized Consult owners manual for further information". I even returned the DVD and got it replaced but it still gives me the same results!

I know that you can pause, rewind, forward using TiVo I just want to know how far ahead in the day can you forward to a show. Are you only able to forward far enough to the programming that ends at 12:00am or can you forward to like the next day?

I know people who have a US billing address and use Vonage VoIP service overseas. Can the same concept be applied to installing same DirecTV equipment in an Asian Country and getting it to work ?

I was looking at a few dvr's and i found a humanix that is a dvd recorder with a hard drive that is tivo compatible. Do i need the tivo service to record telivision programs or can i run it thourgh the cable box like a VCR? Could this be done with other dvr's that you need to connect to the internet for the tv guide or microsoft service?

I am mostly interested in transfering my old and detiriorating VHS tapes from as far back as 20 years ago onto DVD discs so that my family can have for years to come.
There are so many good and bad reviews about these machines that I am confused.
You can also suggest where on-line that you had good or bad results from. I have bought on line before and have had good results while saving much money.
Thanks in advance for any help.

We have been extremely lucky with our service so far. We had some nasty weather for a few days and then our satellite went out. When it came back up, all the timers we had set were gone. It is still holding memory in that it has everything we had recorded on the DVR. We are still having some trouble getting channels to come in before it starts searching for a signal.

And when we hit the record button, the red light shows on the box but it isn't recording. Any ideas?

There is a movie DVD box set on eBay that I would really like to buy, and it is on sale from eBay very regularly, but it says that the DVD region code won't work on DVD players in the USA.

Why in the world would people limit DVDs so that they can only be viewed in certain countries? That is so strange

My computer has a DVD player and my tv has a DVD player, so that means that the Europeon box set probably won't show on either of my players??????

Also, the Australia Zoo is now selling a special DVD about Steve Irwin's life. I guess that probably means I can't buy that either since it's from Australia?

Can someone please explain this? I would really appreciate.

Robin

I presently have cable and rent a DVR player - I am switching to a dish and have the choice of buying my own DVR player - but what about TiVo? Which is better? And are there subscription fees for both?

What is the logic of this? And to whom do you pay the subscription fee? I just don't get why I can't buy a machine and record what I want, when I want in FREEDOM.

I don't know what happened but all of a sudden my dvr stopped rewinding, pausing and everything. None of my dvr controls work. Sometimes it freezes and nothing works till i reset it. I can't even change the channels. I see it entering the channel number but it stays on the current channel. Even after I reset the receiver it still does not make the dvr work. I just got it last month. I can't even play some of my recorded movies. Does it start going haywire when you use almost all the hours up or something? Can someone help please.
