You should be able to connect the two using standard RCA ( Red, White, Yellow) jacks if the DVR has a set of video out jacks. simply plug them into the one of the sets of AV inputs on the VCR/DVD combo. Do note however that some broadcasted material may be encoded with anticopy protection so even though it will copy onto your DVR, it may not copy onto the recordable DVD,and in some cases, the VCR copy will look bad as well.

Yes. You probably want to hook it up in series, between the DVR/cable box and your TV.

Connect the DVR out to the DVD/VHS in. Then connect the DVD/VHS out to the TV in. Each will have multiple jacks, so you want to make sure you match the appropriate input/output types (composites, S-video, component).

You will be watching the DVR through the DVD/VHS recorder.
