Does US HDRW720/17 records in PAL also?

This is US model of HDRW720 and exact model is HDRW720/17. It comes with 1 NTSC internal tuner but the technical specification say- Video playback- NTSC/PAL. video recording- NTSC/PAL/SECAM. Internal TV Tuner - NTSC.
I have multisystem TV. Will this system play and record from PAL signal?
This system has firmware. If I put european firware on this USA model, will that make it PAL compatible?
