I don't know what happened but all of a sudden my dvr stopped rewinding, pausing and everything. None of my dvr controls work. Sometimes it freezes and nothing works till i reset it. I can't even change the channels. I see it entering the channel number but it stays on the current channel. Even after I reset the receiver it still does not make the dvr work. I just got it last month. I can't even play some of my recorded movies. Does it start going haywire when you use almost all the hours up or something? Can someone help please.

It's an R15 from Directv. I googled and those seem to suck. It is acting nuts. Is it because I am almost out of space or something?

I have tried everything. I dread calling directv and them trying everything I already tried Then having to go through the same tedious process just to appease them. Then they will say sorry ma'am I don't know. This seems to be a bad software problem, maybe when it gets almost full. Does anyone know if there is a choice between dvr's or do I have to just settle for the R15?

OK well you want to know what their solution was? To go through a process that deleted everything off my harddrive. That is so f'd up that is not a solution. So if this happens again i just delete everything agian? Seems like they have a bug where when your hardrive is almost full nothing will work right. Blah oh well. Thanks to everyone tho tried to help.

If the DVR is supplied by your cable TV company, you can take it back to a local office and swap it for another one.

Also check to make sure that you're providing the recommended space/clearance around the DVD so that it doesn't overheat. I had to exchange my first DVR with Comcast because of this.

If it's a garbage Motorola box then the problem is in it's software. I've had better luck with the DCT3416, but it's still a piece of garbage too.

I would love to help but the most important info for even starting to explore an answer is left out....That being the Make, Model # and even serial if you can locate.

Did you try unplugging it for 10 minutes and then plugging it back in?

Call your cable company. They will send someone.
