You can only re-use rewritable discs. They are generally labelled DVD-RW as oppose to DVD-R or DVD+R which can only be recorded on once.
You will have to erase the disc every time before you can record something new on it. You should have something in your DVD player menu (possibly a "tools" menu) which will enable you to erase discs ready for re-use.

It depends on the DVD recorder and most importantly, the type of DVD disc. DVD+R & DVD-R are write once only (not rewritable). DVD+RW & DVD-RW are rewritable and can be reused after you erase it in the DVD recorder.

Check the users manual to see which type of DVD blank discs will work in your DVD recorder.

You can only re-record on RW (ReWriteable) discs. Check the book to see if your machine uses + or - types or poss. either. To re-use a disc you will have to look in your menu and erase previous recordings or Format the disc.
