I know s-vhs tapes are like the best quality but I only have a regular vhs player/ recorder. I know sony have a tape its called premium grade. so i guess this is better than a standard vhs tape. but i was wondering if the svhs tape would be better quality even in a regular vhs player /recorder? or there wouldnt be much difference? so i basically want to know what is the best quality tape to use with a regular vhs player not a s-vhs player thanks :)

I am moving to the UK in June from Canada after 2 years here, so I have got used to crap telly and living off the downloaded highlights from uknova. When I return I was thinking of setting up a PVR using MythTV so that I continue to just watch the good stuff, and at a time that suits me not the broadcaster.

Anyone tried it in the UK? or know where I can read of other peoples experiences?
Thanks

I have 3 televisions in my house and not one original remote works anymore. I have bought numerous universal remote controls cheap ones, expensive ones and I can't get any of them to work on any of my televisions. I don't know anyone who has a universal remote that actually works.

Are there any new DVRs sold today that don't require you to pay monthly fees to a service - for example, TIVO, your cable company, Direct TV, etc? We have Direct TV and they charge $5.99/month for their DVR. Aren't there any DVRs that you can buy without needing to pay a service fee? We previously had a Mitsubishi DVR with TIVO Basic built in. You could use TIVO without paying any fees. But I've heard they don't have TIVO Basic in newer models they sell today.

I have a 42" plasma HD ready TV and need a digital receiver to receive the signal for it in HD,I have already got sky and do not agree with having to pay a subscription to them for a HD receiver, when you can get a lot of free programs from other broadcasters.

I am getting a Tivo soon. For $5 more I can get amzonunbox.
It's not easy finding information online. As I can understand, TV episodes are $1.99 and movies $15. Is there any free content?
Does anyone have the service who can tell me if its worthwhile?
