with a component cable to my direct tv dvr reciever?

If I do buy them will it help with the way my lcd looks?

The picture will probably be a little better if your cable/satellite company is broadcasting HD, but you're not going to get the ultra-crisp look without an HD decoder. Also, you'll need an HD DVR to record HDTV channels. Good luck!

I'm assuming you have a HD LCD. You can use component cable but it will not make any difference in picture quality. You're not receiving HD channels anyway.

Of course, you don't need an HD signal to use component cables (All DVD players that have component output are SD sources anyhow).

Component can transfer both SD and HD signals.
