HD DVD and Blu-ray dvd players use a blue laser to read these discs that are packed with all the information that goes with high definition. Regular (standard) dvd players and recorders use a red laser. This red laser cannot read the high definition disks.
"DVD RW" is a format for recording onto a DVD, like "DVD-/+R." DVD RW means that you can record on the disc over and over (Re-Write). Where a DVD-R, writes once and cannot be rewritten once finalized.
Many new monitors are capable of HD quality pictures. There are HD DVD and blu ray drives for computers. A high definition recorder drive for the computer was announced at this year's CES. Not sure when it's coming out.

No, so far technological advances have only allowed us to be able to play HD-DVD's on HD-DVD player's and to be displayed on HD ready televisions. Trying to play the HD-DVD on your computer won't harm your computer, but it is unlikely to work. I hope this has helped

Nope. HD DVD and BluRay need a Blueray or HD-DVD player.

it is complex...your tv/monitor has to be hdtv compatible for you to view HD. you cannot play in non compatible tv/monitor. You can play but it wont display right
