I have 3 televisions in my house and not one original remote works anymore. I have bought numerous universal remote controls cheap ones, expensive ones and I can't get any of them to work on any of my televisions. I don't know anyone who has a universal remote that actually works.

I have 3 tv's and bought universal remotes (from Argos about £10 each) They all work OK on sky and terrestrial TV. The secret is to make sure you are using the correct code for each tv. I couldn't make mine work from the codes in the leaflet that came with remote. So I did an internet search on remote codes for TV and found a site that listed all codes for all makes of TV's so found the correct code for each TV and have had no problem.

I have bought a one for all universal remote control at Argos. It's on page 377, catalogue number 534/6628. It costs £50. I use it for my TV, VCR, Freeview box, DVD Recorder, all with complete functionality. You can even buy a special attachment that allows you to use the remote to switch your lights on and off too! I've not bought that device, so I can't comment on it. Hope this helps.

Trust me on this - they all suck! The high price does not mean better quality. Try saving yourself some money and frustration - contact the maker of your TV and it is very likely they will be able to replace the remote - even if it's sort of old they usually keep them in stock. It may cost you a little - but worth it!

I've never found a TV that Logitech's Harmony Remotes could not control. They are pretty high end, but they work with everything.

they do work in the end but it takes ages shifting through all the codes, best off going online and going straight to the company that made your TV and ordering replacement remotes from them
